FUSHIMI INARI HISTORY
Kyoto is considered the cultural capital of Japan and is a UNESCO world heritage site famous for its shinto shrines, palaces and gardens. The most famous place to visit is the Fushimi Inari Shrine, built in the 8th century and dedicated to the god of rice. While most known for the 5,000 bright orange torii gates that wind through the hills, this magical place includes forests, waterfalls, temples, statues, and history rich with stories and rituals.
